Who is Chaikin Analytics?

Chaikin Power Gauge
After forty years on Wall Street, stock market expert Marc Chaikin, whose technical indicators are industry standards, has introduced a suite of groundbreaking stock tools to provide a directional edge for investors and advisors. Chaikin Analytics (formerly Chaikin Power Tools), which launched in March 2011, is a suite of stock research tools and portfolio management services that help pick winning stocks and drop losing stocks ahead of market shifts. The Chaikin Power Gauge Rating is the centerpiece of Chaikin Analytics—it’s a remarkably accurate indicator of where a stock is headed over the next 3 to 6 months. The Power Gauge is supported by the successful performance of three NASDAQ Chaikin indexes. When overlaid with the Chaikin Power Gauge, each index exceeded its benchmark by over 45% in the first year. Learn More »

About Marc Chaikin

After 40 years on Wall Street as a trader, stock broker, analyst and head of the options department for a major brokerage firm, Marc founded Chaikin Analytics LLC to deliver proven stock analytics to investors and traders, based on the Chaikin Power Gauge, a 20-factor alpha model proven effective at identifying a stock’s potential. Chaikin developed computerized stock selection models and technical indicators that have become industry standards (including Chaikin Money Flow) and pioneered the first real-time analytics workstation for portfolio managers and stock traders.

Chaikin Investments has collaborated with Nasdaq and IndexIQ to bring the Chaikin Power Gauge stock rating approach to the ETF marketplace for the first time. Marc and the Chaikin Analytics team rang the NASDAQ Opening Bell on April 30, 2018 to celebrate the one-year anniversary of this very successful launch. The Nasdaq Chaikin Indexes, powered by the Power Gauge Rating, have outperformed their benchmarks since their inception in April 2014.

About Marc Gerstein

Marc Gerstein, the director of research at Chaikin Analytics, is an unconventional “quant.”

He has long specialized in rules- and factor-based equity-investing strategies. And he authored two books on stock screening – Screening the Market and The Value Connection.

Marc met company founder Marc Chaikin in 2010 and eventually assisted in developing our proprietary “Power Gauge” system. He eventually joined the Chaikin Analytics team in 2018.

Marc’s quant inclinations trace back to his early days as an attorney (mainly criminal and landlord-tenant proceedings). In that world, everything Marc did had to be supported by evidence or legal authority.

He first applied this evidence-oriented approach at Value Line, an independent investment-research firm that he joined in 1980. There, he learned to relate human investment stories to that company’s “Timeliness” ranking system.

Before coming to Chaikin, Marc used screens to create and write The Reuters Value Review and The Reuters Growth Review in the mid-2000s, and The Forbes Low-Priced Stock Report from 2010 to 2015.

During the mid-1980s, Marc managed the Value Line Aggressive Income Trust. That’s a high-yield (“junk”) bond open-end mutual fund. He steered the fund through the Drexel Burnham scandals and the related junk-bond storms. He came away from that experience with a non-academic but highly reality-based understanding of risk.

About Briton Hill

Briton Hill joins Chaikin Analytics after some incredible early career successes… Brit’s love of finance began when he noticed his father’s coin collection as a child. After that, he spent years collecting silver coins.

As Brit reached his teens, his father gave him a subscription to a gold- and silver-focused financial newsletter. And with the advice of a season professional, he managed to cash out his coins at silver’s peak in 2011.

With some money in his pocket and a growing passion for investing, Brit turned to the stock market. Thanks to his early success as an investor, he soon landed a job at Fidelity Investments as one of the youngest traders in the company’s history.

Brit is an intuitively adept options trader. While at Fidelity, he helped countless mom and pop investors make and execute their own trading decisions.

After that, Brit joined sides with the newsletter guru who led him to his early successes. Together, they founded Weber Global Management.

As the president and a partner of Weber Global Management, Brit oversaw a period of incredible growth at the firm. Its assets under management climbed from $17 million to more than $150 million. And most impressive of all… it happened in less than three years.

During that time, Brit wore all sorts of hats for the company. He trained new advisers, handled securities compliance matters, and of course, oversaw the firm’s trades.

Brit’s success as a wealth manager led to the launch of a successful hedge fund. It produced positive returns in 2022, which is widely regarded as one of the worst markets in history.

Now, Brit will share his insights and strategies with our Chaikin Analytics readers. And you’ll get to see firsthand how he applies his unique perspective to wealth management.
