Earnings Consistency Factor
The consistency of EPS over recent and projected fiscal years.

Earnings Growth Factor
The weighted average of the last 3 to 5 years growth in EPS.

Earnings Surprise Factor
The weighted average of recent quarterly EPS surprises.

Earnings Trend Factor
The EPS percentage change over the trailing 12 months.

EMA21 (21-day Exponential Moving Average)
An exponential moving average (EMA) is a moving average that is similar to a simple moving average, except that more weight is given to the latest data. This type of moving average reacts faster to recent price changes than a simple moving average. The EMA21 is shown on the Chart in white, along with it bands above and below it.

Total earnings divided by the number of shares outstanding. Companies often use a weighted average of shares outstanding over the reporting term. EPS can be calculated for the previous year (“trailing EPS”), for the current year (“current EPS”), or for the coming year (“forward EPS”). Note that last year’s EPS would be actual, while current year and forward year EPS would be estimated.

Estimate Trend Factor
13-week change, mean analyst EPS estimate for the next fiscal year.

ETF (Exchange Traded Fund)
A security that can be bought and sold like a stock but which in fact is a basket of stocks that track an index. ETFs can be sold short like stocks too. ETFs are more tax-efficient than normal mutual funds and have lower transaction and operating costs. SPY is an example of an ETF.
